Change and the G8 28 Aug 2008
Why does change happen in one situation and why not in another. Some changes are like leaders, other lags and have to be dragged along. The G8 - a group of eight most developed and democratic countries in the world - is a group that is facing a lot of changes. First of all, the group itself and its acronym “G8″. The seven countries that once constituted the group (by that time still called the G7) are no longer those that today make up the most developed and democratic countries. The change we are talking about here is that of the environment; during the last decade other countries have developed more strongly and have passed some of the G8 members.
Mitt Romney As Vice President? 27 Aug 2008
Do we still remember Mitt Romney? Soon after Romney lost the presidential race, people stopped talking about his capabilities forgetting that he was second in the presidential race not the last one. Many people believe that Romney is much more capable that McCain in certain domains, and thus should be considered for the post of vice president, if not for presidential post. In fact, McCain has no reason to consider Romney as the only best candidate for the vice president post but Romney could prove to be the best. In many aspects, Romney is much powerful than McCain. For example, McCain has always accepted that he needs to improve his expertise for economical issues, while everyone knows that Romney is very strong in the same. One can not say that McCain knows least about economics, but his viewpoints are somewhat low with his only admirable government.
Serious Issue - When Will They Be Discussed? 26 Aug 2008
It is a common myth amongst us that all the major issues of our country will surely be discussed during elections. People take election as a hot season for all the problems to be pondered over. But the reality is far different. In fact, during election alone, contenders try to avoid very sensitive issues that may demand rigorous actions or critical decisions to be taken. Such issues, sometime more important than the future of America, are often avoided at that time. For example, Let us think about immigration issue that needs critical decisions to be taken. If we look at 2005 census, nearly 12% population was over 65. The number will grow up to 20% by 2050. If we do not take any decision, the population will grow up to 450 million which is nearly 300 million right now. Approximately four-fifth of the entire population will be immigrants. The problem will arise when old people and young poor immigrants will try for social benefits. As a result they will be squeezed between middle-aged and middle-class professionals who pay high taxes.
Is Barack Obama Talking Down to Black Folks? 25 Aug 2008
The Reverend Jessie Jackson, accuses Sen. Obama of “Talking down to black folks, and would like to cut his n–ts off”. Once upon a time Rev Jackson stood for something, he marched with the late Dr. Martin Luther King and was one of Black Americas Leaders. He ran for President of the U.S and gave us hope that one day someone like Sen. Obama would appear and Dr. King’s dream would come true. Instead of standing with pride and rejoicing in Sen Obamas accomplishments, the Reverend Jackson decides to take the “crab in the barrel approach” and lashes out like an angry spoiled child. If speaking the truth, if considered “talking down to us” then it’s high time someone did. Too many of us are growing up in single parent house holds. I did, Sen. Obama did, and most of the friends I had growing up in Brooklyn NY did. Our Fathers should have been real men and taken some responsibility for us as their children. As Reverend Jackson should have for his daughter.
